Architecture Now with Techne
A story lead by Techne, the architects behind the 2018 reincarnation of Hotel Esplanade. Weave through the hotel into rooms not seen by the masses, lined with the detail and intention of an artist's mind.
Originally built as a 60-room hotel in the Renaissance Revival Regency Resort style, The Espy underwent alterations in the 1920s and transformed into a celebrated live music venue. From the 90s onwards, the venue survived numerous sales and a threatened demolition before undergoing the refurbishment that you walk through today.
The revived hotel now boasts 12 bars over five levels, three band stages, signalling live music is still a priority, two restaurants and a podcast studio.
Technē Architects are working with the Espy Arts program to produce this unique tour. Join us as the team unravel how they maintained decades of evolutions with their dreams for Hotel Esplanade.
We acknowledge the lands on which we present this work are the lands of the Yalak-ut Weelam people of the Kulin Nations. We pay our respects to their elders, past, present and emerging.
