Everyone loves a market and there's plenty happening in St Kilda and Southside year round. Save the date for these local events, offering everything from locally-made gifts and fresh produce to vintage gems and pre-loved bargains. 


Elwood Community Market 

This beloved local market kicks off its 2024 season in March.  Browse for bargains among the array of vintage treasures as well as books, art, jewellery, plants and more. With Elwood Coffee Roasters onsite, the market's popoular sausage sizzle is a key attraction and you can also pick up, freshly baked bread, cakes and farm-grown fruit and vegetables.

Saturday 4 May, 8.30 am to 1 pm, Elwood Primary School, Scott Street, Elwood.


The Trust Makers Market, Ripponlea

The stunning grounds of historic Ripponlea Estate are the location for the March Trust Makers’ Market. Visit for handmade art, design and tasty treats in in stunning surrounds, with jewellery, clothing, homewares, homegrown goods and much more on offer. Bring the family and a picnic rug to make a day of it. 

Sunday 21 March, 10 am to 3 pm, 192 Hotham Street, Ripponlea. Entry by gold coin donation.


South Melbourne Market

No matter the season, the best produce can always be found at South Melbourne Market. This iconic market is a local go-to for fresh food, with an abudance of fruit and veg, meat, seafood, cheeses, grocery and deli items, bread, cakes and patisseries. A huge range of specialist stalls - including many local makers - offers everything from clothes and accessories to homewares, plants and Melbourne-made gifts.  


St Kilda Esplanade Market 

The St Kilda Esplanade Market is a beacon for visitors and Melburnians alike in its idyllic beachside location.  Running every Sunday throughout the year, for 53 years, this iconic makers market offers handmade art and design by some of the most talented creatives. Coffee and food trucks with flavors from around the world are on hand and don’t forget your fur babies. This is one of Melbourne’s best pet-friendly markets with puppuccinos and accessories to satisfy your pooch.

Summer in the glade, Albert Park

Looking for an individual gift that you can’t find anywhere else? Save the date for Summer in the Glade, a monthly night market in the gardens of Gasworks Arts Park. Shop for premium Australian-made arts and crafts, then linger over drinks from the Gasworks bar, live music and delicious meals from a selection of food trucks.

Veg Out St Kilda Farmers' Market

With fresh produce from regional Victoria’s best growers and producers, the long-running Veg Out St Kilda Farmers' Market always draws a crowd. Based at the picturesque Peanut Farm Reserve,  it's great for catch ups, strolls in the sun as well as filling the pantry. 

First Saturday of the month, 8.30 am to 1 pm, Peanut Farm Reserve, Chaucer Street, St Kilda.


Elwood Farmers' Market

Running the second Saturday in the month, Elwood Farmers' Market has a true community feel, selling a range of fresh produce and artisanal goods from accredited Victorian producers. Unique gifts, fresh flowers, and locally crafted items are also available.

Gasworks Farmers Market, Albert Park

Gasworks Farmers Market is a haven for foodies,  with plenty of farm-fresh fruit, vegetables, artisan baked bread, and gourmet treats on offer. Spend Saturday mornings on the grass soaking up the vibrant atmosphere and sampling the very best of local produce, direct from Victorian farmers and specialty makers. With Gasworks Resident Artist Studios open on market day, it's also a rare chance to meet local creatives on site.
