Journey to Resilience Series 2021

Start 2021 as you plan to go on: refreshed and + resilient. Monthly mini retreats to help you remain committed without feeling consumed.

About this Event

Start the new year as you plan to go on: relaxed, rejuvenated and resilient. With almost every aspect of life planned to the minute, now’s the time to plan for your own self-care. Imagine looking at your diary and finding ‘self-care’ prescheduled – all you have to do is show up.

The Journey to Resilience Series consists of 3 x ½ day mini retreats for you to relax, recharge and reflect on your own resilience as you gaze out over Elwood Beach.

For one afternoon each month, absorb the relaxation that comes from:

• Working the stress-knots out of the body with a bit of gentle, mindful movement,

• Breathing deeply and easily and,

• Settling into the sweet territory of silence with a delicious relaxation practice.

During your Journey to Resilience, wind down as you create personally meaningful positive resilience habits over the course of three consecutive months:

Mini Retreat #1: Saturday, 6 February 2021 (1.30 PM – 6.00 PM)

Mini Retreat #2: Saturday, 6 March 2021 (1.30 PM – 6.00 PM)

Mini Retreat #3: Saturday, 3 April (1.30 PM – 6.00 PM)

Why three, half-day retreats?

We know that for most over-stretched professionals it’s not realistic to carve out time for regular week-long retreats. In fact, sometimes just trying to do so causes more stress and that’s the last thing we want to do!

We also know that it takes about three months to create a new habit. The Journey to Resilience Series is your time to reflect on what resilience looks like for you and to then plan and develop your own personally meaningful, positive resilience actions to integrate into your daily life.

You will also measure and monitor your resilience and perceived stress throughout the journey so that you know how you’re tracking.

This series of three, half-day mini retreats is your pathway to resilience. Each session includes:

• Gentle mindful movement practices that are a blend of Hatha Yoga stretches and the flowing, rhythmic movements of Qi Gong,

• Deep breathing exercises to calm the nervous system,

• Guided meditation practice to relax the body and ease the mind and,

• A deep relaxation practice.

What to bring

Bring your stress and prepare to leave - at least some of - it behind.

Please wear clothing that allows you to move freely and relax comfortably.

With respect to the Covid-restrictions, we encourage you to bring your own mat. However, if you do not have one, that's fine, please let us know and we will have one set aside for you.

For the same reason, we are not able provide bolsters, blankets, blocks or any other such equipment you may usually have on hand to practice. If you have your own, please bring them along.

And of course, you are most welcome to bring along any additional items that provide comfort such as cushion, blanket and / or eye covering.

During relaxation, the body tends to cool down. You may wish to have a shawl, blanket, and / or socks nearby to keep you cosy.

Perhaps a journal and favourite pen to capture notes of your experience throughout the day.
